DEDICATION OF MERIT

During the MRMG’s first Winter Day-Long Retreat in 2021, members engaged the practice of writing a unique MRMG Dedication of Merit, a Buddhist ritual practice. A Dedication of Merit is usually recited at the end of a practice to dedicate the goodness that’s been cultivated towards the benefit of all sentient beings.

By this merit, may we heal any internalized division or separation in our hearts, and awaken to our inherent wholeness.

May we sit fearlessly and peacefully in the middle of complexity and contradiction, trusting the wisdom that comes from our lived experience as multiracial beings.

May we transform the violence of self-denial, shame, and otherness, and embody love and compassion for ourselves, our ancestors, and all beings.

May we find comfort and refuge in our complexities, and know the undeniability and existence of our multiplicities, even in a world that might not always see them.

May we find inherent goodness in ourselves and others, and may this love deepen as we deepen the embracing love we have for our multiracial selves.
